Ginger Snaps Trivia[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • The taglines for this film include the following: "They don't call it the Curse for nothing," "She's got the curse," "They are weird... she's got the curse... now her sister tries to save her..." "Hungry like the wolf," and "Ginger Snaps... and Bites."
  • Ginger Snaps was released to DVD by Artisan Entertainment on October 23rd, 2001. It was also packaged with the Ginger Snaps: The Trilogy boxset collection.
  • The title of the film is a pun on the biscuit of the same name. "Snap" also relates to losing one's self-control, or a quick, aggressive bite.
  • Principal shooting for the film took place primarily in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
  • Ginger and Brigitte's project involving "mock suicides" was filmed in a young family's house in Canada while the family - including a four-year-old child - was home. Various crew members had to spend the day playing with or otherwise distracting the child so she wouldn't see the gory scenes being filmed outside.
  • There are a lot of coincidences surrounding the actresses Katherine Isabelle and Emily Perkins. They were born in the same hospital, attended the same schools, were represented by the same talent agency and auditioned on the same day.
  • Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins would again play sisters in Another Cinderella Story in 2008, a far more lighthearted film than the Ginger Snaps series. They've also starred in Supernatural, Da Vinci's Inquest, and The X-Files in different episodes.

Goofs[edit | edit source]

Continuity Errors[edit | edit source]

  • When Ginger and Brigitte are buying tampons, Ginger takes the box from Brigitte twice without once giving it back.
  • When Brigitte and Sam are running through the house trying to find Gingerwolf (Ginger after her full transformation into a werewolf), every window they pass has light shining in, even though it's supposed to be late at night.
  • When Ginger and Brigitte go to visit Sam, he slams the door when Ginger and Brigitte come in. Then when Sam and Brigitte are talking, the door is open. Also when the door is slammed, the hinge is on the left. If one were to look from the same view as when he slammed the door, the hinge would be on the right.
  • When Brigitte traps Ginger in the bathroom the door swings outward; in every scene before that the door swings inward. Also, when Brigitte finds that Ginger has broken out of the bathroom, there is considerably less blood on the door than before Ginger breaks out.
  • When the girls are eating supper after Ginger has been bitten, there is a ham on the table, but their father is eating a chicken leg.
  • When Ginger is in the car with Jason her nails are very long; later when she visits Sam with Brigitte, her nails are normal.
  • In the scenes where Sam is smoking, he takes a drag; however, when the camera changes angles, no smoke comes back out of his mouth.
  • When Brigitte pulls out the Polaroid picture out of the camera, the picture comes out the wrong way with the bottom of the picture last (the bottom should come out first).
  • Sam hits the werewolf with the front-left of his van, with the werewolf prop bouncing off and to the left. While there is lots of blood splatter, the werewolf was not very heavy, since the van was not severely damaged. In the next shot of the van, the front grill is missing, and part of the hood and area behind the front bumper are caved in: all minor damages to the van.
  • In the scene where Sam catches up to Brigitte to talk about the werewolf he hit, his sunglasses disappear in-between the shot of him leaving his van and the shot of him walking behind Brigitte; a cigarette appears tucked behind his ear instead.

Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed Trivia[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Taglines for the film are "Pour la tuer il faudra mourir" ("It only dies if you do") in the Canadian French release, and "Evil Bites."
  • The film is alternatively known as Ginger Snaps II or Ginger Snaps: Unleashed, and in the Philippines it was titled Werewolf: Gingersnaps.
  • Principal shooting for Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed began on 3 February 2003 and concluded on March 14th.
  • Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed was released to DVD by Lions Gate Entertainment on April 13th, 2004. It was also packaged with the Ginger Snaps: The Trilogy boxset collection.
  • The film had a TV premiere in Sweden on 24 December 2012.
  • The credits end with the phrase "No animals or werewolves were harmed during the making of this film."

Film Details[edit | edit source]

  • Rocky was played by a dog named Trigger.
  • The dilapidated hospital used in filming is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and was built in 1967. It had not been in use for many years. The hospital was named Charles Camsell, after Canadian Geologist Charles Camsell (8 February 1876 - 19 December 1958). The dilapidated area of the hospital in the film was actually a real life abandoned mental hospital, and its state (the paint peeling of the walls and everything falling to pieces) was exactly as the filmmakers had used in the film.
  • In one scene, Brigitte's leg gets snapped sideways, and she has to snap it back into place. Reportedly, Emily Perkins used her own leg in the shot (as opposed to a prop leg).
  • In the scene where Brigitte is crawling through the vents to try and escape, the vents are made to look twice as long as they are by using mirrors at 45 degree angles. The actual vents of the hospital were used as she jumps out at the end.
  • A lot of Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed was shot on location (apart from Ghost's house and the vents), and the film was the highest budget "Ginger Snaps" film at 4.8 million Canadian dollars.
  • Every time Ghost is alone with her burned grandmother, her grandmother subtly tries to hit the call button to get the nurse to come into the room.
  • The bathroom scene where Tyler goes in to take back Brigitte's monkshood is actually a ladies bathroom, which caused problems while filming (especially in the scenes of the stall).
  • Ginger's appearance changes throughout the movie. By the end, she is in a dark hoodie, looking pale and with bags under her eyes. Ginger's appearance may represent Brigitte's hold on her humanity and how it deteriorates as her lycanthropy disease progresses.

Goofs[edit | edit source]

  • On the scene where Tyler injects Brigitte for the first time at the mental hospital, the content of the syringe varies from 1/3 to almost 1/2 full.

Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Two taglines are "Evil rises..." and "Find the source of your fear."
  • In the Philippines, the film was released as Hellwolf: You Will Be Eaten Alive.
  • Pre-production for Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning began on 31 March 2003 and concluded on April 20th.
  • Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning was released to DVD by Lions Gate Entertainment on 7 September 2004. It was also packaged with the Ginger Snaps: The Trilogy boxset collection.
  • The final premium of the film (as a TV premiere) was in Sweden on 25 December 2012.
  • The credits end with "No animals or werewolves were harmed badly during the production of this film."

Goofs[edit | edit source]

Anachromisms[edit | edit source]

  • The movie states it takes place in 1815. All of the rifles/muskets used in the movie are percussion locks, not flintlocks. The percussion cap was invented in the early 1820's, and Percussion style rifles did not start becoming prevalent until the 1840's. In fact, many of the "Northwest trading companies" produced flintlock trade guns well into the late 1880's.
  • The film is set in the 19th century. The first interior shot of the main house of the fort shows a wax cylinder music box. There are six songs on cylinders, the first of which is the song "Sweethearts of Sigma Chi", a song not written until 1911.

Continuity Errors[edit | edit source]

  • At the dinner scene, both Doc Murphy and Ginger can be seen not actually eating anything (the doctor eats air and Ginger waves her spoon around a bit for some reason), then somehow Ginger ends up with a rather large chunk of meat on her spoon that was not on her plate.
  • When a werewolf was breaking through the door of Ginger and Brigitte's room, it was killed by the hunter's arrow through the head. The arrow was clearly shown entering the werewolf's forehead from in front. The camera pans up to show the hunter standing behind the werewolf on the other side of the door, so the arrow could only have entered the back of the werewolf's head. Later on when the fort's soldiers drag the werewolf's corpse out, this same arrow was shown exiting from under the werewolf's lower jaw.
  • When the werewolf breaks into the fort, Brigitte's knife alternates between pointing upwards and downwards at least three times.
  • During the first leech scene (when they test if Brigitte is a werewolf or not) Brigitte's sock changes color from white to olive and then back to white again.
