Ginger Snaps[edit | edit source]
What does the title "Ginger Snaps" mean?
The title is a pun, where Ginger refers to the central character Ginger Fitzgerald and could also be a reference to her blond hair. Snap could mean "a sudden closing of the jaws", "barking out irritable or peevish retorts," or "taking a photograph" (the sisters took photos documenting events and placed them on their wall). The phrase Ginger Snaps is also a reference to a thin brittle cookie sweetened with molasses and flavored with ginger.
Who were the Fitzgerald sisters?
The Fitzgerald sisters were Brigitte and Ginger Fitzgerald, who appear in all three films in the trilogy. In Ginger Snaps and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed, they were daughters to Henry and Pamela Fitzgerald. They were both 15 years of age and live in Bailey Downs. In Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, the sisters had the same namesake, returning as Brigitte and Ginger, but were in their 20s and were orphans.
Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed[edit | edit source]
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning[edit | edit source]
How does this film fit into the trilogy with Ginger Snaps and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed? It seems to take place in an alternate timeline.
- The film is a prequel to the series, taking place in 1815. Based on the Fitzgerald sisters breaking the prophecy, which will condemn the future to the werewolf curse, the events start the later events in the other two films more than 100 years later in 1999. The location of Fort Bailey is assumed to be where the future community of Bailey Downs is founded.
